Have you taken our Beginning Quilting class and just need a little "refresher"? Maybe you've been quilting for a while and just need a little "tune-up". Join us for this abbreviated version of Beginning Quilting.

Learn how to make a quilt from start to finish. This class teaches all the tools, basic skills, terminology and hands-on experience to make a quilt. Student chooses lap or baby sized quilt. 6 sessions.

In this one session class you will piece a set of cute tea cups. These are fun to make as a block, or a set for placemats or table runner. Make just one for a mug rug!!! A great gift for Mom or Grandmother. This is the PERFECT class project if you are a visiting quilter. We have machines you can use for the class for a $5 fee. Kits available or choose your own fabric before class. Also a great class for you and three of your friends for a girls day activity!!

This class is for anyone that has not sewn before, or maybe has attempted to sew, but a very long time ago. In this class you will learn how to thread a sewing machine, how to sew straight, curved, and corner seams. By the end of this class, you will have completed a simple project that introduces you to some basic fundamentals of sewing.Sewing machine in good working order, 1 yard of non-directional woven fabric, thread to match fabric, scissors, pins, marking pen or pencil, tape measure or seam gauge. It is recommended that students bring their own machine for class. If student does not have a machine, a shop machine can be rented for $5.00 per class. You?ve stitched the Sashiko pre-stamped designed and now you want to branch out. Hi tome means ?one stitch.? Hitomezashi is the art of creating patterns by combining horizontal, vertical and diagonal stitches on a grid. In this class you learn how to create the grid and begin stitching and designing patterns. Practice fabric included, additional supplies required.

This is a great take along project!! Staying at your condo for the week, need something to keep busy? Try this modern spin on the traditional Japanese style of embroidery. Stitching can be used for decorative and functional purposes. Learn a new skill and take home a piece of history. Walk ins welcome. This is also a wonderful class to take with a group of your friends for a girls activity.

In this class you will learn about the basics of cutting a traditional Hawaiian applique, needle turning and hand quilting. You will make a small sample piece and leave with all of the basics and some history of the craft. Additional Kit Fee: $7.00

Here is how it works. You sign up. Before the first session, you pull a ?mystery? envelope that will have a pattern for one block from one of our previous Wing & a Prayer block of the month gatherings. Maile will give you fabric requirements. You show up on the first day with your fabric and pattern. Cut & Sew, lunch, sew? go home, come back, sew, layout, lunch and sew. Two full days of unadulterated sewing and fun!

The Kauai Quilt Show opens at the Kauai Artists Society's space in the Kukui Grove Shopping Center on Feb 10 through Feb 22. 10:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. daily. Friday February 10th until 7pm. Over 70 quilts on display, many for sale. Contace Lea for information 808-652-2261.
